Anthony M. "Tony" Abraham, 90, of Southmont, died on August 17, 2019 in Johnstown. Born on September 20, 1928 in Johnstown. He was the son of Alex and Elizabeth (Dali) Abraham.
Preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Frieda Farra, Mary Abraham, Fred Zacharia, Catherine A. George, John Abraham, Jennie Phillips, and wife Ruth. Survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Tony was a 1947 graduate of Johnstown High School, where he was a member of the Gymnastic Team. He was a 1958 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He was retired from Bethlehem Steel with over 38 years of service. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict, where he operated High Speed Radio and he completed his service at the 585th Support Company, Fort Monmouth, NJ.
He loved watching all Pittsburgh sports and considered Johnstown his ideal home. His extensive travels only made him love it more. He enjoyed helping out at Sportsman's. Tony took pride in the lives and accomplishments of his nieces and nephews.
Tony was a lifetime member of St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, where he served as a cantor for 40 years and as a former Parish Council Member. He was an active member and recruiter for The Order of St. Ignatius, an Archdiocesan Philanthropic Organization.
Friends received from 3-7 PM on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at the Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown PA 15905 where Trisagion Prayers of Mercy will be sung at 6 PM.
Trisagion Prayers of Mercy will be sung at 10 AM at the Funeral Home on Thursday with Funeral Service to follow at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, Very Rev. Father Donald E. Shadid. Interment, Grandview Cemetery where a Military Ritual will be conducted by VFW Post 155.
