Anthony" Tony" N. Paone, 97, of Upper Yoder, died on August 8, 2020 at home. Born July 8, 1923 in Spangler, PA, son of Domenic and Grace (Antonazzo) Paone.
Preceded in death by his parents, beloved wife of 70 years Kay, brother James Paone, and granddaughter Meredith Unger.
Survived by loving children, Kathie, Patti, Don, John (Suzanne), and Joe; grandchildren Zachary Unger, Alexandra and Nicholas Paone; brother Joseph Paone (Donna). Also many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Tony received his Bachelor's degree from St. Francis University and his Master's degree from Penn State University, and spent four summers at Ohio State University on a science grant.
He taught science for one year in Maryland and for 35 years at Westmont Hilltop High School. He was adviser to many clubs and his last year was named golf coach. The golf team went undefeated and won the Wheeling Tournament. Tony had a PA Barber license and practiced part time. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and served as a Gunner on a B-24 Liberator Bomber. He flew 50 missions and received the Purple Heart, 7 Bronze stars, and many other metals.
He was so proud of his children because they all graduated from college. He was a member of the Westmont Recreation Commission for several years, a member of the Spangler American Legion Post 569 for 77 years, and was a life member of PSEAR. He loved to golf, bowl, and rooted for Penn State Football, Pittsburgh Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers.
Tony thanks his children for their calls and comfort, but especially son Don for seeing him every day to take care of all his needs and to daughter Patti for spending time with him.

Tony was a charter member of St. Clement Church, and served as an usher for over 50 years, where Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Rev. William E. Rosenbaum. Entombment Grandview Mausoleum where a Military Ritual will be conducted by VFW Post 155. Facial coverings and social distancing if attending the Mass.
