Brian James Pesto, 59, Johnstown, died on February 13, 2021, of complications following a stroke.
Born December 19, 1961 in Baltimore to George and Ruth (Calpin) Pesto, who preceded him in death. Survived by brothers and sisters Michael (Annie), Maryland, Keith (Nancy), Johnstown, Suzanne Middleton (Bill), Delaware, Elaine Taylor (Victor), Maryland, nieces, nephews, and a great niece. Also survived by his Aunt Janet Calpin, Georgia, and his Kahler cousins Kathleen, Laura, and Amy and their families.
Brian graduated from the Redemptorist minor seminary at North East, PA in 1980, and proudly served in the United States Navy from 1981-87 as a petty officer on the USS Coral Sea (CV-43). He then drove a forklift for three decades at various manufacturing establishments in Maryland, including Westinghouse Electric, Washington Quality Foods, and Shire Pharmaceuticals, until disabled by Parkinson’s disease. He moved to Johnstown and resided at the Atrium. He loved the staff and his second family there. Although he was an avid fan of the Tomahawks and all of Johnstown’s AAABA teams, he never abandoned his loyalty to the Orioles and Ravens.
The family is very grateful for the compassionate care he received in his final illness from Select Specialty Hospital, Conemaugh Hospital, and Laurelwood Care Center, and for the funeral arrangements made by Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel.
A private graveside service was held for the family at Lakeview Memorial Park, Sykesville MD on February 20, 2021.
