Emily “Vaughn” Wild, died January 5th, 2021, in Vero Beach, FL. She has been reunited with the love of her life, Robert Wild, who died in 1990. They are no doubt slow dancing once again in heaven, with Corky close behind. She was born February 20, 1931 in Portage, the daughter of Russell and Margaret (Price) Thomas. Preceded in death by sister Marjorie Orlosky and brothers Thomas and Walter Thomas. Survived by brother Rob Thomas, Portage.
Survived by loving children Jeff Wild (Patti), Vero Beach, Florida; Holly Rigby (Tim), Johnstown; Heidi Ergas (Sanders), Leland, North Carolina; Lisa Odgers (Brian), Tampa, Florida. Grammy to Allison Beindorf (Jim); Cassie Morgan (Aron); Suzanne Holliman (Blake); Sean Rigby; Alyssa Seidel (Dave); Riley Odgers; Tyler Odgers and seven great grandchildren.
A graduate of Portage High School where she was head majorette. Formerly employed by Penn Traffic. She was a former member of Westmont United Methodist Church where Vaughn and Bob were active in the Youth Fellowship program.
Vaughn was a wonderful homemaker and baker. She had a quick wit that often belied her quiet personality. Birthdays weren’t complete until she sang Happy Birthday just for you. Holidays were always a special time with family, and her ceramic projects have become Christmas traditions. She enjoyed her pinochle club and long walks from her Westwood home to the Inclined Plane.
She had been a resident of The Brennity in Vero Beach for the past six years, where she was known as “Our Sweet Emmie.”
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
Donations in Vaughn’s memory can be made to the Humane Society of Cambria County, 743 Galleria Drive Ext. Johnstown PA 15904.
