Joann "Momma Moose" D. Mussio, 78, of Westmont, died on January 25, 2020 at home. Born December 14, 1941 in Philadelphia, daughter of Frank and Jean (Milewski) Paul.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Dr. John Mussio, brother Thomas Paul, nephew and godson Thomas.
Survived by loving children Jennifer, Alexander, Lawrence married to Diane, and Adrian; grandchildren John and Mark; nephews Stephen and Brian Paul and sister-in-law Diane Paul.
She was a graduate of Hallahan High School and Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing, where she became a tremendous nurse. Just the best. She and Doc moved to Johnstown in 1970.
She was also unafraid to speak her mind. If she was thinking it then you were probably going to hear it.
Devoted wife, mother, aunt, “Mima”, and dog mom. Let me tell you, you don’t get more devoted than her. Simply tremendous devotion in this woman. She loved entertaining, combining new traditions with old and ensuring that her loved ones were left with good memories.
She loved animals, especially her dogs and gorillas. Growing up she would spend hours at the Philly Zoo watching the gorillas. The family joke was that the reincarnation jackpot would be to come back as one of her dogs.
Friends received from 5-7 PM on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 at the Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown PA 15905. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, January 30, 2020 at Our Mother of Sorrows, Very Rev. Mark S. Begly. Private Interment.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children Hospital at www.stjude.org or to the Ellen Fund at www.theellenfund.org in her memory.
