Myrtle M. Custer

Myrtle M Custer. 89, of Westmont, died on July 31, 2020 at Laurelwood Care Center, born April 29, 1931 in Johnstown. 

Preceded in death by her husband Paul, the love of her life;  her parents Foster and Myrtle (Murray) Weller;  sister Sarah Marlowe.

Myrtle was the beloved mother of Cynthia Mitchell wife of Gareth (Gary) Mitchell of State College, Linda Custer of Johnstown and grandmother of Allison Mitchell. She loved being a wife, mom and grandmother.  

Myrtle graduated from Greater Johnstown High School and Indiana State Teachers College.  She retired from the Johnstown City School District where she was a Middle School Home Economics Teacher.  Mom loved being around young people and our home was always open to family, friends and neighbors, and like her mother;  she always welcomed everyone with joy and great food.

The family is grateful for the kindness and love of sister-in-law Jean Ann Griffith,  life long best friend Joann Keefer, wonderful friends and neighbors David and Terri Mrozowski and their son Adam who she loved like a grandson. 

The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Maharajh, Amber Springs Personal Care, Laurel Wood and Grane Hospice staffs who cared for Mom over six years. 

At the family's request, all services are private and entrusted to Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd.   

She liked to play bingo with her friends, so in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to Laurel Wood "Activities Fund", 100 Woodmont Road, Johnstown, PA 15905.
