Joann (Freiwald) Curley

Joann Curley, 86, passed away on October 29, 2019 in her daughter’s home.  Joann was born February 1, 1933 in Johnstown, PA, daughter of Raymond and Eda (Ludwig) Freiwald. 

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Curley, brothers, Walter Freiwald, Raymond Friewald, and sisters, Margaret Schrader, Edwarda Bagwell, and Eda Mae Schrader. Survived by her brother William Freiwald of Johnstown and children Michele Burns married to Tom Page of Troy, MI, Bob married to Jeanmarie (Profita) of Damascus, MD, Colleen Marek of Belle Vernon, PA, Jim of Johnstown, PA, and David married to Sophia (Richardson) of Tyrone, PA.  Also survived by 17 grandchildren. 

Joann attended St. Joseph School and graduated from Johnstown Catholic High School. She had worked as a School Nurse and retired in 1993 from Johnstown and Conemaugh School Districts.  She also worked as a RN at Mercy and Pittsburgh Veteran hospitals.  Joann was an active Eucharistic Minister at the hospitals, a volunteer at St. Vincent De Paul Society,  participated in Classic Clowns as Flutters, enjoyed Healing Touch and square dancing.  She will be missed every day. 

Friends received from 1:00 PM until time of Funeral Mass at 2:30 PM on Monday, November 4, 2019 at St. John Gaulbert Cathedral. Very Rev. James F. Crookston. Entombment, St. Joseph Mausoleum.
