Patricia "Patty" Ann (Walsh) Koop

Patricia "Patty" Ann (Walsh) Koop, 64, of Johnstown, died Tuesday, December 10 at UPMC Family Hospice in Pittsburgh, PA with her children by her side.  Born April 4, 1955 in Williamsport, daughter of Richard L. and Catherine C. (Gallagher) Walsh.

Patty is preceded in death by father, Richard L. Walsh; mother, Catherine C. Walsh; surrogate-mother, Matilda C. Labuda; former husband, Richard A. Koop; mother-in-law, Shirley K. Koop; and father-in-law, Richard H. Koop.  She is survived by her daughter, Katherine E. Koop (Khip) Irwin and son, Christopher P. (Meredith) Koop; grandchildren, Maximalian R., Emerson N., and Henry P. Koop; brothers, James R. (Judi) Walsh, Thomas J. (Patty) Walsh, Edward L. Walsh,  and Timothy F. (Lisa) Walsh; and sisters-in-law, Katherine C. (Richard) Stephenson and Beth L. Koop.

Patty attended St. Clement primary school and Bishop McCort High School and graduated from Westmont Hilltop High School in 1973.  Patty worked at the General Telephone Company (now Verizon) and later built a career in the insurance industry working in marketing for CBIZ Insurance Services, Inc. and The Gleason Agency for many years.  She was self-made.  Patty was an avid skier, held various officer positions in the Johnstown Ski Club and volunteered for regional and national political campaigns.  She enjoyed traveling abroad, going on cruises, and dancing.  Patty loved her children, Katie and Chris, immensely.  She was kind, generous and courageous and instilled those values in her children.  Patty always had time to listen to a friend in need, her dining room table was never too full to make space for one more person, and she did not judge others.  She had a deep faith in God.  Her life was a living example of the following bible verse - "And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you."  Ephesians 4:32.  She will be deeply missed, but her values and spirit will live on through her children and grandchildren.

Friends received from 4-7 PM on Sunday, December 15th, 2019 at the Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown PA 15905. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at St. Clement Catholic Church. Rev. William Rosenbaum. Interment, Maple Springs Cemetery, Jerome.
