Anthony J. Tomaselli, 90, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2021, at a nursing home in Leesburg, Virginia.
Tony was born in Johnstown to the late John and Anna Tomaselli on October 29, 1930. He graduated from Johnstown High School in 1948, and then served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He worked for Bethlehem Steel for more than 30 years. Tony married Mary Jo Rizzo on May 1, 1954.
In his spare time, Tony coached youth basketball for many years at St. Anthony Catholic School and Bishop McCort High School. He was fondly known as “Mr. T” by all the players he coached and their families.
In addition to his parents, Tony is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Mary Jo, and brothers Joseph, Charles and Robert Tomaselli. Tony is survived by his two sons, John (Jill) Tomaselli and James (Kathleen) Tomaselli; grandchildren Justin Tomaselli, Michael (Heather) Tomaselli, Ashley (Ryan) Gilbert and Abigail Tomaselli; great grandchildren Archer and Cooper Tomaselli and Brinley and Bradley Gilbert; brothers Jack (Patricia) and David (Jacqueline) Tomaselli; and sister Frances Tomaselli.
Friends received from 5-8 PM on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at FRANK DUCA FUNERAL HOME, EAST HILLS CHAPEL AND CREMATORY, 404 WALTERS AVENUE, JOHNSTOWN PA 15904, near PA Drivers Center and Armory.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, formerly St. Anthony, where he was a life member. Interment, St. Anthony Cemetery, Geistown.
