Anthony “Chico” J. Angello

May 13, 1954 ~ August 21, 2023 (age 69) 69 Years Old

Obituary

Anthony J. “Chico” Angello, 69, of Johnstown, PA passed away at home on August 21, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on May 13, 1954, in Johnstown, PA, he was the son of the late John A. and Mary (Stumpo) Angello.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather Eugene Delusa and father-in-law, Edward H. Johns.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Laura L. (Johns) Angello; two sons, Scott Anthony of Cumberland MD and Tina Gazsi of Morgantown, WV; and Jonathan Edward, married to Brianne (Alecci) Angello of Canton, CT, parents of two-year-old grandson, Caden Michael and foster granddaughter Isabella Cirone; brothers, Richard (Kathy), John Jeffrey (Susan) and sister Jody Silva (Art).

He is also survived by mother-in-law, Anna Mae Johns, and sisters-in-law, Darlene Holtzman (Dennis) and Edna M. Powell (Philip), along with many loving nieces and nephews, and lifetime friends, Dave and Joan Barker.

Anthony was a 1972 graduate of Bishop McCort High School.  Upon graduation, he served a four-year Operating Engineer apprenticeship and has been a member of the Operating Engineers Local 66 for 48 years.  Chico began his own business, L.A. Excavating in 1997, which he owned and operated for 23 years.

In his earlier years, he was an EMT with Ferndale Fire Company, paramedic with Lee Hospital and West End Ambulance, and an EMT Instructor at Johnstown Vo-Tech.

Chico was a member of Windber Country Club where he enjoyed golfing with the Zeus group and his many friends that he made during the 15 years of membership.

Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Pap-Pap, brother, uncle, and loyal friend to all who knew him.

Grandson, Caden, was the love of his life.  No matter how bad a day he was having, the phone portal would ring and Caden’s little smile would appear temporarily diminishing all of Chico’s troubles. Caden’s precious smiles lit up his heart and the kisses he blew to his Pap-Pap will eternally be with him.

Friends will be received on Monday, August 28th, from 2-4 PM and 5-7 PM at Frank Duca Funeral Home Inc., 404 Walters Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15904.  A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, August 29, at 10:00 AM, at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, 124 Maple Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15901.   Interment will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Geistown, PA.
