Anthony “Red” R. Pinizzotto, 92, Johnstown, died February 24, 2020.
Born January 1, 1928 in Johnstown, son of Angelo and Marie (Caputo) Pinizzotto.
Preceded in death by wife Olga (Baligush) and siblings, Rose Rilogio, Theresa Arena, Samuel and Joseph.
Survived by devoted daughters, Lynda, CA, Carole Mayercsik (John), VA, and Patty McGough (Michael), Johnstown; grandchildren, Amy Langerholc (Matthew), Kari Namiot (Ben), Justin Mayercsik (Brianne), Sean McGough (Christa) and Kellie McGough; eight beautiful great-grandchildren, Izabella, Mackenzie, Noah, Mia, Madilyn, Zoey, Sophie and Jonathan; siblings Mary Falvo (Vincent) and Mario, Florida; Sister-in-Law Anna Mae Pinizzotto.
Also many extended family includes more than 60 nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Red was a well known political figure; serving as a long time local Democratic Committeeman, and a four term Johnstown City Councilman. He served on many local boards: 34 years on the Johnstown Water Authority (RDM), Lee Hospital Board and the Pennsylvania Tax Equalization Board, appointed by good friend Governor Tom Corbett. Red was a skilled meat cutter at the old Quaker Market and Transportation Director for Cambria County’s Office on Aging. After retiring, Red enjoyed meat cutting, working at various local markets including Conzatti's Italian Market until the age of 86.
For many years and until a month prior to his death, he was a dedicated and active member of the YMCA, arriving at 4:30 AM, five days a week, to work out with his many “Y” friends whom he truly enjoyed.
An active member of St. Therese Catholic Church, Ushers Club, Holy Name Society and annual festival committee.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 28, 10:00 AM at St. Therese Catholic Church, the Rev. Bernard Karmonocky, OFM.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2 to 8 PM at the Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown PA 15905. Committal, Grandview Cemetery.
Donations can be made to the Cambria County Association for the Blind & Handicapped, 211 Central Avenue, Johnstown PA 15902 in memory of Red.
