Barbara Louise (Golesich) Bogovich



Barbara Louise (Golesich) Bogovich, 96, of Johnstown, PA, went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2025, surrounded by her daughters. Barbara was the daughter of the late Thomas and Caroline (Sermac) Golesich. The loving wife of Anthony Joseph Bogovich Sr., who passed away on June 11, 2008, concluding 57 years of marriage. Also preceded in death by stepfather John Grassa, brother Frank Golesich, sister Mildred (Grassa) Lambert, stepbrothers Thomas, Jack, Edward and Nicholas Grassa, stepsister Helen, Mary, and Anne.

Barbara is survived by her son, Anthony Joseph Jr.  (Beverly) Reading, PA, daughters Deborah Riffle (Norbert) and Theresa Bogovich (Wayne Sutherland) both of Johnstown, PA., grandchildren Anthony Joseph III (Maly) Hector, NY, Nicole Little (Jacob) Carlisle, PA, Alison Bogovich, Reading, PA., and great grandsons Maverick and McCoy Little. Survived by sister Caroline (Golesich) Babish Johnstown, PA, Rose (Grassa) Rogers Elmer, NJ and brother Peter Grassa Johnstown, PA, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Barbara’s short career as a seamstress continued through her lifetime as she loved to sew items for her family and friends. She loved being a homemaker and caring for her family. Barbara was frequently seen outside her home, gardening and maintaining her yard. Barbara was known for her holiday nut rolls, pigs in the blanket and delicious perogies. A devoted Catholic and lifelong member of St. Andrews Church Johnstown, she participated in various church activities and organizations throughout her lifetime. The family wishes to express our gratitude for the wonderful care she received at her second home, The Villa Crest Horizon Personal Care Home. She loved everyone there, considered it her home and enjoyed all the activities and companionship she gained in her final year. Also, a special thank you to doctors Sirsikar & Satkovich and the staff at Aseracare Hospice for the compassionate care they provided Barbara during her brief illness.

Friends received 2-4 PM  on Sunday June 22, 2025 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd 15905. Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM Monday at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Fr Mark S. Begly. Interment to follow at Grandview Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests Mass intentions be made at the church of your choice for Barbara or donations in her name to St. Andrews Catholic Church.
