Christopher J. Mauro

Christopher J. Mauro, 66, of Prospect, died on April 20, 2020. Born November 3, 1953 in Johnstown, son of Philip and Clara Jane (Sloan) Mauro.

Preceded in death by his mother Clara Jane Mauro, sister-in-law Elizabeth Mauro, and his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Survived by his loving wife of 41 years Mary (Lewis), his father Philip Mauro, his brother Michael Mauro, and aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law.

Chris was a 1971 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School. He retired from Charles J. Merlo, Inc., where he was a master mechanic. Chris had the ability to fix anything and could make anything from scratch. Chris loved classic cars and going to car shows showing his '76 Firebird. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins, and Pirates fan, along with Penn State Football. Chris enjoyed vacationing with his family at Sandbridge, VA, and loved to garden, starting plants from seeds. He battled health issues and never complained. He was the strongest person we knew. He was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services will be held privately at St. John Gualbert Cathedral and private committal held at St. John Gualbert Cemetery.
