Survived by loving Husband and Best Friend John George, Children, James,  Kelly (Bruce) Barger, Charles  (Mary), Kathy (Dr. Michael) Mallis, and Michelle (Yiorgos) Plakakis, Brother-in-law Charles (Joann), Brothers, Michel (Lebanon),Youssef (Lebanon), John (RI), Sisters, Marie (Lebanon), Afifi (Lebanon), Majda (Johnstown) and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, Godchildren  and friends throughout the USA, Lebanon and Middle East. Survived by Grandchildren Bruce, Jonathan, Samantha, Charles, Sara, Doug, Sophia, Dalal and Ciel; 14 Great-Grandchildren and special family members that visited the home often to brighten our days,  Brother-in-law Charles, Khouria Janet and Father Don Shadid, Balkissoon and Belkys Maharaj and James Audi.

Dalal loved Her upbringing on the Mediterranean Sea in Anfeh, Lebanon where She was crowned the Queen of El-Koura. She loved spending time with her siblings, picking olives and picnicking under the olive trees, going to visit her Dad at the family butcher shop, going on shopping trips to Tripoli with her brother Michel and teaching French to her students.  Although Her home was situated on the Mediterranean Sea, She never learned how to swim but instead admired the Sea from Her back porch or rooftop.  Dalal met the Lebanese man of her dreams, John, while he was visiting Lebanon with his Uncle George. They married and the entire village was celebrating with them in the streets. Dalal then moved with the love of Her life across the world to Johnstown, PA, Her town that she loved and bragged about to everyone. Dalal and John are the owners of Pyramids Lounge and Catering which they built in 1976. She loved serving and socializing with hundreds of guests for weddings, banquets, and fish fries for almost 50 years.  Dalal is a devout Orthodox Christian and lifelong member of St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church where She was the former president of the St. Mary Lady Society and Member of the Church Council. “GOD IS GOOD,” was always recited from Her mouth.  Her favorite holiday was Easter and She would look forward to chanting in Arabic with Father Don on Holy Friday.  Dalal cooked from her heart and that gave Her great joy.  She was a master of Lebanese cooking and pastry making. She also loved making homemade chocolates, cheesecake, and nut rolls. She took great joy and pride in entertaining her family and friends in Her beautiful home.  Her door was always open and Her table was always full.  Her other favorite pastimes were shopping (she knew every store manager from here to Pittsburgh), singing in Arabic, dancing, listening to Her favorite Lebanese musicians and giving to others. Dalal took great pride in Her Faith, Family and Lebanese heritage.  Upon semi-retirement, Dalal and John enjoyed every second spent taking trips to visit their three youngest grandchildren, Sophia, Dalal and Ciel in Fort Lauderdale and would then count down the days for their annual holiday and summer vacation trips spent with Tayta and Gido in Johnstown.  The world and our family are Blessed Beyond Measure to have You Mom and Dad in our lives. Dalal has the most pure and kind heart and wanted nothing but the best of GOD’s Blessings for everyone.  Memory Eternal to the BEST Wife, Mom, Tayta, Aunt, Godmother and Friend.  “El Denye Emm”

The Mother by Gibran Khalil Gibran
The most beautiful word on the lips of mankind is the word “Mother,” and the most beautiful call is the call of “My Mother.” It is a word full of hope and love, a sweet and kind word coming from the depths of the heart. The mother is everything-She is our consolation in sorrow, our hope in misery, and our strength in weakness.  She is the source of love, mercy, sympathy, and forgiveness.  He who loses his mother loses a pure soul who blesses and guards him constantly.

Everything in nature bespeaks the mother. The sun is the mother of earth and gives it its nourishment of heat; it never leaves the universe at night until it has put the earth to sleep to the song of the sea and the hymn of birds and brooks. And this earth is the mother of trees and flowers.  It produces them, nurses them and weans them. The trees and flowers become kind mothers of their great fruits and seeds. And the mother, the prototype of all existence, is the eternal spirit, full of beauty and love. The word mother is hidden in our hearts, and it comes upon our lips in hours of sorrow and happiness as the perfume comes from the heart of the rose and mingles with clear and cloudy air.
