David J. Farra Jr., 73, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on October 27, 2023. Born on July 26, 1950 in Johnstown, son of David J. Farra Sr. and Frieda (Zacharia).
Preceded in death by his parents, grandson Giovanni Roumanos, his aunts, uncles, and other loved ones. Survived by his loving and devoted wife of 44 years Majda Salim (Geha), loving children Nadine Fares wife of Simon, of MA, Darlene Roumanos wife of Fadi, of MA, and David J. Farra III; grandchildren Anthony Fares, Jacob Roumanos, Charbel Fares; sister Mary Anne Asfar. Also survived by many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins in the United States and Lebanon.
He spent part of his childhood, and attended college in Brooklyn, NY. He returned to his home in Johnstown, PA to establish his future. David was the owner of D. Farra Distribution Company, Davids One Stop Shop, and co-owner of D. Farra Inc. He was a big child at heart and enjoyed taking his children and nieces on many adventures. He loved watching WWE and Ice Hockey. He was an extra in the movie Slap Shot. He was a very talented Darbuka drum player and enjoyed playing at parties and at his home. David welcomed his family and friends to his home and with his Arabic saying “Beyti Baytak” “My house is your house”.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and brother. David dedicated his life to his family and friends. David was a lifelong member of St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church and choir, and very dedicated to the Orthodox faith.
Friends received from 2-4 and 5-8 PM on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown PA 15905. Trisagion Prayers of Mercy will be sung at 5:30 PM at the Funeral Home. Trisagion Prayers of Mercy will sung at 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Funeral Home, followed by a Funeral Service at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, Very Rev. Donald Shadid and Rev. Fr. Christopher Shadid. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum.
