David Thomas Wilson, 78, of Johnstown, passed peacefully with his wife Valerie by his side on October 28, 2024. David was born February 17, 1946 in Prospect Park, Pennsylvania, his favorite home. He was the son of Roland and Elsie (Nugent) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Frances Richard Loughran.
Survived by his wife, Valerie Kasper-Wilson; his sister, Gerri Loughran; his nephews, Richard, Michael, and Tim, and their families of Bucks County.
David graduated from Temple University. He served his country in Vietnam as a United States Marine. After his service, he began a fulfilling career at Valley Forge Military Academy (VFMA). He was the chairman of the math department and a very popular math teacher whom the cadets loved. He provided after school tutoring in Mathematics for the Corps of Cadets. He was selected as "teacher of the year." David was the "voice" of VFMA Athletics. He was the scorekeeper and announcer for the football, baseball, basketball, wrestling, track and cross country teams. He was inducted into the VFMA Athletic Hall of Fame.
David met the love of his life Valerie Kasper while teaching together at VFMA. They married and enjoyed 34 wonderful years together. They were active with the CCD program at VFMA. After retirement, David moved to his wife's hometown of Johnstown. He converted to Catholicism and became an active member of St. John Gualbert Cathedral. He taught candidates for the RCIA program, and served as a Reader and Eucharistic Minister.
In his free time, David was an avid supporter of the Philadelphia professional sports teams; including the Eagles, Flyers, 76ers, and his favorite team: The Phillies. David was a lover of classical music. Most of all, he loved and was dedicated to his family and his dogs. He was an avid supporter of animals in need. David was a perfect gentleman and will be dearly missed.

Family and Friends will meet 1:30 PM Wednesday, November 06, 2024 for a Funeral Mass at St. John Gualbert Cathedral,117 Clinton Street, Johnstown, PA 15907, Very Rev. Matthew Baum and Father James Crookston. Interment at Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, PA. A military ritual will be provided by the Marine Corps League, Detachment 287.
