Dawn A. Mamula, 71, of Westmont, died peacefully on April 17, 2023 at home. Born on February 10, 1952, in Johnstown, daughter of Louis D. and Martha (Hunt) Howard.
Preceded in death by her parents, brother Joseph Howard, and niece Courtney Reed, who Dawn loved as she would her daughter.
Survived by loving husband of 50 years Charles Mamula, sons Scott, of Johnstown, and Chris, married to the former Kim Stroz, and granddaughter Brynn of Ogden, Utah.
Dawn was a 1970 graduate of Johnstown High School and attended Shippensburg University. She worked closely with her husband Chuck, managing their photography business. Dawn was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and “Mimi” to granddaughter Brynn. Their special relationship was highlighted every school day morning when they enjoyed breakfast together on FaceTime. Dawn’s caring personality helped establish many amazing friendships that grew stronger over time. Gifted with a beautiful singing voice, Dawn served as a cantor/song leader at St. Rochus Parish. Through that ministry, she inspired and nourished the faith of the community. Dawn will be joyfully welcomed at heaven’s door by the many souls at whose funerals she led the sung prayer. In recent years, Dawn was a member of the music ministry at Our Mother of Sorrows Parish.
Friends will be received from 3-7 PM on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown PA 15905. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, concelebrated by Very Rev. Mark Begly and Rev. Charlie Amershek. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum.
