Dolores “Dee” Andrian Obituary

Dolores Popp Andrian, formerly of New York City, Westport, Connecticut and past two years in Davidson, North Carolina, died peacefully on July 10, 2024 at the age of 93. Andrian, lovingly known to many as “Dahling Dee” and Auntie Dee, was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to parents Alice and Joseph Popp, Sr.  Her husband Jim preceded her in death and is buried at Arlington National Cemetery where Ms. Andrian will be laid to rest.

She was the oldest sister of several siblings.  After high school graduation, Ms. Andrian headed to New York to seek a career in acting.  She arrived at the Rehearsal Club in 1955. Carol Burnett had moved out just two weeks before she moved in.  She truly enjoyed living there until 1958.  She appeared on the daily shows that Johnny Carson, Merv Griffin, and Bert Parks were doing.  In the 1960s she was employed by Rogers and Cowan, public relations firm representing top celebrities where she worked with stars such as Shirley MacLaine, Kirk Douglas, Danny Kaye, Jack Lemmon and sat in on a recording session of Tony Bennett.

While living in New York City, she met the love of her life and her biggest fan, her husband Jim. Together they moved to Westport, Connecticut, where she enjoyed life on Compo Beach, golfing, and volunteering for organizations including ushering at the Westport Country Playhouse.   She appeared on stage there in addition to performing in local theatre productions.  Everyone who knew Dee or was in her presence, certainly saw how she could light up a room with her smile and her positive attitude. She lived her life acting, rehearsing, writing and sharing stories of her blessed life. She will be greatly missed, and her singing "Unforgettable" will always remind us of her zest for life and her love for all. Her favorite saying, “ Live DAHLING Live” will forever be in our hearts as she led an extraordinary life doing so.

Her memory lives on with many of her loving siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  Her writings and memoirs can be enjoyed at www.dahlingdee.com.
