Edward J. Cable, 78, of Johnstown, passed away March 30, 2020 at Tampa General Hospital, Florida.
Born February 28, 1942, son of Walter and Josephine (Zips) Cable. Preceded in death by his father, and his first wife of 39 years, Dorothy E. Cable. Survived by his mother; his second wife of 10 years, Nancy Cable; his daughters: Karen married to J.T. Findish Jr., Anne married to Ronald Covalt Jr., and Jennifer married to Kevin Hewitt; step daughter: Karen Dupin; grandchildren: Jonathan married to Anna Findish, Connor Hewitt; Zerlinda married to William Jessee, Clifton Covalt married to Stephanie; brothers and sister in laws: Michael married to Barbara Cable, Walter married to Joan Cable; and sister: Carol Walters and partner Leonard Petrilla; and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
Ed was a graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School and a proud veteran of the Air Force. He worked at Bethlehem Steel then, as an Engineer for multiple companies. All his life, even after retirement Ed kept busy; he would work on most anything he could get his hands on. He spent most of his time in the garage tinkering or engineering something, or working on his land. He was also an avid motorcycle enthusiast, enjoyed hosting family picnics, singing either in the church choir or just a tune on his own, he could be caught dancing, listening to live music, traveling and spending the winter months as a snow bird in Sebring, Florida. His smile and joy for life was infectious and he will be greatly missed.
With all social distancing and safety precautions still enforced, friends received from 4-8 PM on Friday, July 10, 2020 at the Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Franciscan Friars, OFM. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.
