Eileen R. Carothers

Eileen R. Carothers, 86, of Westmont, died on August 27, 2023, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born on July 1, 1937, in Johnstown, daughter of Joseph and Helen (Knuff) Riek. 

Preceded in death by her parents, first husband Raymond Stublarec, second husband Hyle Carothers, brother Joseph Riek, and son-in-law David Carroll. 

Eileen is survived by her daughters Karen Carroll, of Baltimore MD, and Kimberly Budash (Timothy), of Johnstown, 3 grandchildren, Dr. David Carroll Jr. (Daryl), Sarah Budash (fiancé Joshua), and Benjamin Carroll (Justina), 4 great-grandchildren, Brett, Allison, William, and Sawyer, sister Donna Vamos (Eugene), sisters-in-law Sissy Dobrick and Carol Murin (Pinky), many nieces and nephews, special friend Ronnie, extended family and friends, and her faithful companions Billy and Oliver. 

Eileen was a graduate of Ferndale High School. She raised her family in Brownstown and was a life member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She was a lifelong member of Brownstown Fire Company and was an avid Penn State, Pittsburgh Steeler, and Penguin fan. She was a devoted nanny to the 4 children of Stephen Zamias and worked for them for over 20 years, and most recently was employed at Laurelwood Care Center in the activities department until age 79. 

Friends will be received from 5-8 PM on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown PA 15905. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday at St. Michael Catholic Church, Brownstown. Fr. Mark Begly. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Cambria County Humane Society, 743 Galleria Drive Ext. Johnstown PA 15904 in memory of Eileen.
