Elsie Arendas, 93, of Johnstown, died on November 1, 2020. Born March 18, 1927 in Johnstown, daughter of Wasko and Odaska (Blaschak) Homyak.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charles; daughter, Sandy Abele; sisters, Mary, Ann, Helen, Susan, Elizabeth, Margaret; brother, John; and sister-in-law, Ann (Dudak) Homyak.
Survived by daughter, Susan wife of Edward Deitle; grandchildren, Stacey married to Robbie Britt of South Carolina, Jason Deitle married to Kristin of Myrtle Beach, and Katie Abele of Seattle; great-granddaughter, Hartlynn Britt; son-in-law, Rob Abele; and her faithful and loving companion, Duke.
Elsie retired as a store clerk with the Penn Traffic Company. She enjoyed gardening and watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers.
Friends received from 3-7 PM Thursday, November 5, 2020 at the Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. with Panachida at 3 PM.
Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service at Christ the Savior Cathedral, 300 Garfield Street, Johnstown PA 15906 on Friday at 11:00 AM. Very Rev. Protopresbyter Robert Buczak. Interment, Christ the Savior Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thank you for Dr. Maharajh for his dedicated care and friendship over the years. Thank you to her care givers, Theresa, Monica, Carol, Linda, Barbara, and Anna, who gave her the excellent care and allowed her to remain in her home, and the caring neighbors who looked after her daily. Also, the family would like to give a special acknowledgment to the ER staff at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center for their care for mom during her final hours.
