Esperanza L."Cha Cha" Bair, 75, of Johnstown, died on January 26, 2022 at Pittsburgh Allegheny General, due to COVID-19 complications.
Born on December 12, 1946 in Johnstown, daughter of Henry U. and Mary R. (Arellano) Murillo.
Preceded in death by her parents, cherished daughter Charlene, and brother Henry.
Survived by loving husband of 25 years, John E. Bair; brother, William Murillo (Debbie); sisters, Sr. Rita C. Murillo CSJ, Aurora Gilmour (Scott, deceased), Kathleen Bumbernick (James), Juliette Keelan (Bernard); Aunt, Flo Ann Arellano. Also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, and many devoted friends, especially Kathy Trabert and Greg Karcher.
She leaves behind her shadow and guard dog Izzy, and funny dog Gilly.
She was a 1964 graduate of Bishop McCort High School and a graduate of Cambria Rowe Business College.
Cha Cha was employed by Mercy, Good Samaritan, and Conemaugh Memorial Hospitals for 29 years as a dietary cook.
Also employed at UPJ Food Service and Event Planning, and Community Action Center, where she received the outstanding yearly employee award.
She volunteered at the St. Vincent De Paul Soup Kitchen, St. John Service Group, and Visitation Service Group. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Catholic Daughters of Americas, and a Eucharistic Minister for the Homebound, St. John Cathedral, Visitation Parish.
She enjoyed making nut rolls at St. Clare of Assisi Church and pierogi at St. Therese Church. Cha Cha was a recipient of a kidney transplant on February 18, 2021 and was an advocate for organ donation.
There will be no viewing at her request. Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at St. John Gualbert Cathedral. Fr. Matthew Baum Celebrant. Interment, St. John Cemetery, Geistown.
