Eugene "Buddy" Joseph Skala

Eugene Joseph "Buddy" Skala, 81, of Westmont passed away February 14, 2026.

He was born in Johnstown December 5, 1944, son of Frank and Florence (Schultz) Skala.

Preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Frances; his parents in law, John Andrew and Elizabeth Spada.

Survived by his wife of 56 years, Barbara (Spada); his children: Andrew married to Jill, and Stephanie married to Dennis Callahan; his grandchildren, Brendan and Erin Callahan; his siblings, Mary Jo Skala and Philip Skala (Alice); his brother in law, Anthony Spada (Marianne); and his nieces: Beth Harris, Suzanne Atkinson, Tonya Spada-Dixon, and Melissa Radovanic and their families.

Eugene graduated Johnstown High School in 1962. He graduated from Robert Morris Business College. Eugene and Barbara married August 17, 1969. He worked for Peoples Natural Gas Company and Dominion Gas Company. He served his country in the US Army National Reserve for over 20 years and retired at the rank of Master Sergeant. Eugene was a longtime member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church.

Friends will be received from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 18, 2026 at the Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown.

Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Our Mother of Sorrows, 415 Tioga Street, Johnstown, Very Rev. Mark S. Begly.

Interment at Grandview Mausoleum to follow, where a Military Honors Ritual will be performed by VFW Post 155.
