Frederick E. Raco Sr.

Frederick E. Raco, Sr., 85, of Johnstown, passed away peacefully at his home on April 28, 2026.

Born May 20, 1940, in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Frank and Pauline (Gabbia) Raco.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Judith (Cardellino) Raco; eight of his nine siblings; and his son-in-law, Patrick Harrigan.

Fred is survived by his loving children: Melissa Raco Gore and her husband Michael; Troy Raco, Sr. and his wife Karen; Fred Raco, Jr. and his wife Jimma; and Aaron Raco. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Fred was a longtime member of the Church of the Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary. He dedicated many years of service to Conemaugh Hospital, where he retired at the age of 55. He also proudly served his country for eight years in both the United States Air Force and the United States Navy.

A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Fred will be remembered for his love, strength, and dedication to his family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In accordance with his wishes, no formal services will be held. The family will honor his memory privately. Funeral arrangements are entrusted with the Frank Duca Funeral Home.
