Frederick B. Mickel, 89, of Richland, passed away April 2, 2025. He was born in Johnstown August 13, 1935, son of the late Otis and Irene (Meloy) Mickel.
Fred is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alice (Gregorchik); his children: Kimberly Liotta (Larry), Jacquelyn Mickel (Brad Lindner), Stephanie Mickel (Drew Schneck), and Jeffrey Mickel; his grandchildren: Lindsey, Joshua, Jacob, Matthew, Abigail, Nicholas, Alexandra; four great grandchildren; and his sisters, Donna Kinsey, Joan Bliss, and Kathleen Watts.
Fred received his bachelors from Washburn University, Masters from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and taught as a professor at UPJ. He led a very successful banking career over the years. Fred started Data Consultants, worked as the COO of Johnstown Savings Bank, and retired as the CFO of Hoblitzel National Bank. After retirement, he tutored at “After School Live” at Johnstown High School. He was an avid golfer and past president of Sunnehanna Country Club. Fred was also a former Johnstown City Councilman.
Friends will be received from 2:00pm-4:00 pm and 6:00 pm-8:00 pm on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, EAST HILLS CHAPEL, 404 Walters Avenue, Johnstown 15904. Funeral Mass will be 1:30 pm on Thursday, April 10 at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 2310 Bedford St., Johnstown, 15904. Interment to follow at Richland Cemetery.
