Gary C. Horner, died December 29 at McCullough Place in Southmont. Born September 2, 1942 in Johnstown to Clyde A. and Janette Inez (McAchren) Horner. Preceded in death by parents and wife Gretchen H. Horner.
Survived by children Matthew Horner (Christopher O’Neill), New York, Juli Robards (Hugh Robards), Virginia, and Heidi Walker, Johnstown; sisters Kimberly Dixon (Ronald Dixon), Oklahoma and Debbie Douglas (Peter Douglas), Florida; grandchildren Chelsie Blackburn (Weston Blackburn), Hannah Richards (Ray Crawford), Dillon Zack, and Grace Gardill, all of Johnstown, as well as six great-grandchildren.
Alumnus of the Dickinson School of Law (Law Review), Juniata College, and Westmont High School. Distinguished attorney and former senior partner at Spence, Custer, Saylor, Wolfe and Rose Attorneys at Law. Former President and Solicitor of the Johnstown War Memorial, board member of Johnstown Symphony Orchestra and founding board member of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies as well as a two-time president of Sunnehanna Country Club. Former attorney for the General Counsel of the Canal Zone, Panama. A passionate runner and athlete in baseball, softball, basketball, football and track. Gary was also an avid reader and lifelong student of history and language with a love for travel, great food and drink, jazz and classic rock. Member of Christ Lutheran Church.
At the family’s request, a memorial will be held at a later date due to Covid-related issues.
