Helen Louise Curcio, 80, of Upper Yoder Township, died on December 16, 2021 at home with her children at her side. Born on November 13, 1941 in Johnstown, daughter of Samuel and Agnes (Dutkoski) Guzzi.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband of 33 years, Robert F. Curcio, and sister Concetta Penna.
Survived by children Diane Richardson (Michael), of Dedham, MA; Celena Calpin (Michael), of Bon Air; Robert A. Curcio (Jessica), of Brush Valley; grandchildren, Camryn, Benjamin, and Ethan Richardson, Amelia and Shane Calpin, and Paiton and Easton Steiner; brother Samuel Guzzi and his wife Jodie (Geary), of Johnstown, and Sister Agnes Patricia, of Charlton MA; special aunt to Theresa Penna, Toni Marie Illuzzi, James Penna, Cindy Plocharski, Mary Ann Paff, and Angelina Guzzi.
Helen was a 1959 graduate of St. Catherine's Academy in Newport, RI and a graduate of Salem State University, Salem, MA with a major in English, and also obtained a Master's Degree in Religious Education. Helen spent her life in service and devotion to the Catholic Church as a former Carmelite sister, Director of Religious education, teacher at West End Catholic Junior High School, Eucharistic Minister, Lector, and Choir Member.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who will be sadly missed.
Friends received from 4-8 PM on Monday, December 20, 2021 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown PA 15905.
Friends and family will meet for a Funeral Mass on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Clement Catholic Church. Fr. William Rosenbaum.
