Helen J. Luberto, 88, Johnstown, departed to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 5, 2025.

In addition to her parents preceded in death by brothers Steven, Domenick and Phillip; sisters Annette “Tona”, Connie, Matilda “Tillie” and Mary Luberto, Carmella Raneri and Josephine Oshaben (Frank Robert); nephew Alan Oshaben and niece’s husband Craig Kraber.

Helen was just three years old when her mother passed away. Her father died when she was ten. Raised by her siblings, especially her beloved sister Matilda, Helen was devoted to her family and a few close friends, giving of her time generously and compassionately to be of service at any hour of the day or night. The last surviving member of her immediate family, Helen sat at the bedsides of her sisters and brothers during many hospitalizations and illnesses. Helen possessed a servant’s heart and showed unyielding loyalty to family and friends.

In her younger days, Helen was an accomplished bowler, competing in local and regional leagues and winning several trophies over the years. Helen also enjoyed bus trips to Atlantic City and dog races in West Virginia. An outdoor grilling pro, Helen enjoyed cooking for family gatherings. Helen was an avid Steelers fan and enjoyed watching professional golf. In her later years Helen enjoyed quiet walks, watching her favorite drama and reality TV programs, and sitting outdoors with friends during warm summer evenings.

Always a hard and dependable worker, Helen was employed for 35 years at Glosser Brothers, where she also delighted in playing Santa Claus during the holiday season. Following closure of Glosser Brothers in 1989, Helen worked at the Johnstown Holiday Inn until retirement.

Special thanks to all who provided compassionate care throughout Helen’s many illnesses including Drs. Fockler, Zajdel, Gadde and Awan and staff as well as Heritage Ridge Skilled Nursing and AseraCare Hospice staff.
