Huda Nayef Martin, 84, of Southmont, fell asleep in the Lord surrounded by her loving family and friends at home on August 14, 2024.
Born on December 5, 1939, in Fih El Koura, Lebanon, daughter of Nayef Sayegh and Saida Elhousni.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, Beloved son Edward, sisters Adele and Laila, and brothers George and Fouad.
Survived by loving and devoted daughters Susan Martin, of Johnstown, and Laila (Vann Fogleman), of Wilmington, NC, grandchildren whom she adored Cody and Coral, special nephew George and Marlene Karam and family, also many loving cousins and dear friends whom were chosen family.
Huda graduated from American University of Beirut. She came to America to be with her sister and begin a new life. She was a teacher of English and History at St. Anthony School in Woodvale until starting a family. She was a faithful, supportive and loving wife, doting Mother and Tita. Huda loved receiving company, inviting family and friends into her home and was known for her exceptional culinary skills in Lebanese Cuisine and her famous nutrolls. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting afghans which she often gifted to loved ones. She was known for her tenacity and strength that enabled her to persevere in life. Huda also loved to laugh and share stories of growing up in Lebanon and making memories with her family and friends. She was an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
Huda was a very kind and generous person who will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was true beauty, an icon and the world has truly lost a legend of her time as there was only one Huda.
Friends received from 3-7 PM on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown PA 15905. Trisagion Prayers of Mercy will be sung at 7PM.
Friends and family will meet at 10:30 AM on Monday, at St. Mary Antiochian for a Funeral Liturgy. Very Rev Fr. Don Shadid. Interment, Grandview Cemetery.
