James William Cuthbert, 73, of Johnstown’s Old Conemaugh Borough, went home to our Lord on April 21, 2022. He was born November 6, 1948 in Johnstown. He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Catherine (Harlan) Cuthbert; brother, Raymond; sister-in-law, Patricia Cuthbert; and beloved dog, Russell.
Survived by: his son, David Cuthbert; his sisters, Romayne Baldwin and Aggie Flynn (John); his nieces and nephews, Eva Heyman (Ron), Kim Pavic (Rick), Michael Flynn (Tyra), Amy Laursen (Steen), Jason Flynn (Emily), Sara Flynn-Loy (Robert), and Greg Flynn (Patty); and his two cherished dogs, Bo and Eddie.
James, also known as “Colonel” or “Cuss”, was a life-long neighbor and friend of Old Conemaugh Borough residents. James graduated from Johnstown High School and was a veteran in the United States Army, serving in Germany during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed the outdoors, festivals, and especially dinners with family.
James focused his life on bringing joy to others. Always ready with humor, James’ laughter was contagious and unforgettable. While known for his cheerful effect on anyone in his presence, James took seriously his role as father. Through many shared pizza slices and bike rides through town with his son, an inseparable bond was built which is marked by immeasurable love and unequaled loyalty.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, East Hills Chapel located at 404 Walters Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15904. A viewing will begin at Noon and continue after the service until 4:00 PM.
