James Edwin Russell, 92, of Riverside went to be with the Lord and his late wife Millie on Monday, April 14, 2025 surrounded by his family at Windber Hospice. Jim was born December 2, 1932 in Johnstown, son of the late Paul and Kathryn (Ulry) Russell.
Preceded in death by his wife of 64 years and his everything, Mildred “Millie” (Kosjer) Russell (2016); his son, Thomas M. Russell (2022); his brother, John "Jack" Russell, and his sister, Linda Russell.
Survived by his son, David P. Russell married to Linda, of Liverpool, PA; his grandchildren: Todd, Tawnya, Shawn, Christopher, and Amberlee; his great grandchildren: Brice, Caura, Jennabell, Eva, Finley and Vienna; his sister, Carol Adams, and daughter in law, Roberta Russell.
Jim graduated from Ferndale High School.
Jim met and fell in love with Millie at the Roseland skating rink and married shortly after in 1952.
He served in the Navy during the Korean War. He worked and retired from as a field engineer for IBM.
He played dinner music on the organ for 25 years, including 10 years in the 60’s through the 70’s at Indian Lake Lodge.
Jim was among other things, an accomplished carpenter, electrician, and plumber. He built his dream home on the top of a secluded wooded hill "Southview Oaks" for Millie and him to live out their retirement days in quiet comfort. He was an avid traveler, taking first his family and then Millie and himself on many exciting adventures.

At the request of Jim, all services are private. A military ritual will be conducted by VFW post 155. Interment Richland Cemetery.
Jim wanted to make sure everybody knew of his love for his wife and he would write this special note everyday on the top of the daily newspaper all of their married life and it is also engraved on their tombstone “JIM LOVES MILLIE”.
