Joachim “Joe” Wilhelm Figge

Joachim “Joe” Wilhelm Figge, 81, of Westmont. Born October 2, 1940.  The world lost a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great Grandfather and Brother on March 23, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones at his residence in Westmont.

Born in Dusseldorf, Germany, the son of Helmet Wilhelm Figge and Gertrude Maria Schroer.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Patricia Ann (Hilton), and children, Nicholas J. Figge (Renee LaBuda), Erica Boblits (Keith), Cynthia Ann Romance (Michael), and Michael Figge, grandchildren, Anna Marie Romance (Glenn Bianchi), Jacob Figge (Anna Nicole), Abigail Lenhart (Isiah) and Great Grandchildren, Reagan and Niko Figge and Luca Bianchi.  He is also survived by his siblings, Monika Price (Kenneth), Sheila Moore (Robert), Michael Venetsky (Mary) and Denise Plis (Ronald) and many nieces and nephews. 

He immigrated to the United States in 1947, graduated from Johnstown High School and worked over 37 years as an Industrial Electrician for Bethlehem Steel Company and Gautier Steel. Joe served as a tank crew member in the Pennsylvania National Guard.  Joe was an avid ham and amateur radio operator, and his call sign was N3BDI.  He was a member of Daisytown Sportsman’s Club, where he enjoyed target practice with his son, daughter, and brother.  He loved to restore old cars and working in his rose garden.  Mostly he loved spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.  He will also be missed by his beloved cat Bullitt.

Friends will be received Friday, March 25, 2022, from 5-7 PM at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown PA 15905. Private Interment at Grandview Cemetery with military honors conducted by Conemaugh Valley Marine Corp League, Detachment 287.
