John E. Correll

John E. Correll, 83, of Westmont, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2020. Born on December 17, 1936 in Johnstown, son of Samuel and Agnes Correll.

Preceded in death by his parents and loving wife of 43 years Clare Marie (Gennett) and his brother Pete Correll. John and Clare have three children, Mary Clare Barry (Patrick), of Long Island, New York, Mark and Jen, of Mechanicsburg, PA, and William and Maria, of Ebensburg, PA. They have four grandchildren Lauren (Barry) and Nick Backert, of Maryland, Patrick and Lindsay Barry, John and Brian Barry all of Long Island, New York. He was blessed with two great-granddaughters Emma Grace Barry and Palmer Clare Backert. 

He is survived by sister Ann Podrasky, of Las Vegas, Dollie (Correll) and husband Dennis Gisler, Samuel Correll and wife Billee, all of Johnstown, PA. 

John was a 1954 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High School. John was in the Air Force stationed in Korea, Japan, and the Pentagon. He was retired from Bethlehem Mines, Domestic Relations, and was a Conemaugh Township Police Officer. He received an award for over 10,000 hours of volunteer service at Conemaugh Hospital. He was a lector and Eucharistic minister at Visitation Parish, as well as Eucharistic minister at the hospitals, and a member of the Serra Club. John was a 4th Degree, Knights of Columbus.

Friends received from 9 AM - 11 AM on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown, PA 15905. Funeral Mass will follow 11:30 AM at Visitation BVM. Rev John J. Slovikovski, con celebrant, Fr. Tim Wehn. Interment, St. Anthony Cemetery Geistown.  Facial masks and social distancing protocols enforced during mass.
