John Matthew Hornick, 78, of Johnstown, died on November 28, 2021, at UPMC Carlisle.
Born on November 25,1943, in Johnstown, son of Roman J. and Mary E. (Kinney) Hornick. Preceded in death by his parents, his sister Mary Ellen Pavelko and her husband Tom. Survived by his loving wife Barbara Ann (Venet) Hornick, loving children John Hornick married to Lorie (Bowman); Joseph Hornick married to Lorie (Bates); Justin Hornick married to Karen (Rjabanedelia); and Jennifer wife of Brian Burgess; 9 grandchildren, Jessica, John, Ethan, Eve, Jocelyn, Zachary, Allie, Braelyn, and Brody; 4 great grandchildren Kylie, Gryphon, Greyson, and Olivia.
John and Barbara were high school sweethearts and celebrated their 60th Anniversary this past April. John was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, and a lifelong fan of both Pitt and Steelers football. He had a successful career in Sales & Marketing in senior leadership positions at Snyder’s of Berlin, Galliker Dairy Co., and Sani-Dairy. If asked, his proudest career achievement was starting Stonehedge Farms Popcorn, alongside his three sons in 1997. John’s most favorite pastime was bass fishing. He had special spots along the East Coast from Crystal River, FL to Lake Winnipesaukee, NH, but you would find him most often on his beloved Ranger boat at the Quemahoning Dam.
Friends will be received from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Visitation of the B.V.M. , 1127 McKinley Ave, Johnstown, PA 15905, on Friday, December 3, 2021, with Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 AM. With Fr. John Slovikovski. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. Flowers can be sent directly to Visitation Church.
