Josephine Z. "Girlie" Cable

Josephine Z. "Girlie" Cable, 102, passed away on December 2, 2021 at her daughters home in Hooversville, PA, where she resided.

Born on March 17, 1919 in Johnstown, daughter of Frank J. and Josephine (Partsch) Zips. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter E. Cable (1958), daughter Mary Maxine Zips (1949), son Edward J. Cable (2020), daughter-in-law Dorothy E. Cable (2004), siblings Frank W. Zips, Rose Zips Behrhorst, Edward J. Zips, Helen Zips Ayers, Cecilia Zips Costlow, and Catherine Zips.

Survived by sons, Walter F. Cable married to Joan, and Michael W. Cable married to Barbara; daughter Carol Jo Walters and significant other Leonard Petrilla; daughter-in-law Nancy Cable; grandchildren Karen, Jen, Joe, Mark, Melissa, Jesse, and Jamie; 14 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, special caregiver Wanda Jerin, and her ever faithful companion "Pup".

She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She received her degree in nursing from Mt. Aloysius and worked as an R.N. at Lee Hospital until her retirement in 1986.

At her request, all services were private. A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date.
