Karon H. Jurcevich

Karon Helen (Roberts) Jurcevich, known as “Boots” to her family, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 18, 2022.  Karen was born November 9, 1942, in Buffalo, New York, and raised in Johnstown. 

Karon was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Helen (Bondy) Roberts, and brothers-in-law Mike Vickery, Jim Rosenthal, and Ronald Nicodemus. She is survived by two children, Robin Adamczyk, and Robert Jurcevich (wife Rosa), along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Karon is also survived by five sisters and one brother; Eugene Roberts (wife Elma) of Fayette, North Carolina; Dorothy Vickery, Johnstown; Barbara Rosenthal, of Seal Beach, CA; Pat Jurcevich (husband, Bill) of Defiance, Ohio; Connie Platt (husband Hal) of Johnstown; and Hope Nicodemus, of Johnstown. 

She lived close by to her granddaughter, Stephanie Straub, and her husband, Tyler, and their children.  They were always there for one another and whenever help was needed they both stepped up to the plate.  Karon loved and adored those grandchildren as she got to see them often and babysit.  If any children, including nieces and nephews, were around you knew she was down on the floor playing and giggling with them.

Karon was never a slacker and had many jobs through the years with Lee Hospital, Sheetz, Detrich Industries, Pepsi, Bon Ton, Laurel Wood, Allegheny Lutheran Home, and currently, was the greeter at Walmart when you entered the store.

She enjoyed reading and watching Hallmark movies, especially the Christmas ones. She enjoyed going out to eat and shopping.  She also liked her flower gardens and always managed to keep busy. She was truly one of a kind. Karon will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

At Karon’s request, there will be no service at this time, but a memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
