Leonard Facciani, Sr Obituary

Leonard J. Facciani, Sr., age 93, of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2026, at Villa Crest Home in Johnstown, surrounded by his devoted sons.

Born July 11, 1932, in Johnstown, he was the son of the late Reno R. Facciani and Anna (Archihofsky) Facciani. Leonard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ardeth (Helsel) Facciani; his brothers, Donald and Ronald “Pookey” Facciani; his sister, Nancy; and his infant brother, Raymond.

He is survived by his loving sons: Len Facciani, Jr. and wife Michele McClelland of Windber, PA; Michael Facciani and wife Mea of Waterloo, Iowa; and Richard Facciani of Johnstown. He is also survived by his devoted sister, Sally Anne Plotkin and husband, Stuart of Richmond, Virginia.

Leonard was a proud and cherished grandfather to Lara Salvatore (Charly) of Nashville, Tennessee; Raquel Facciani of Waterloo, Iowa; Gabrielle Barnett (Nick) of Waterloo, Iowa; Vincent Facciani of Waterloo, Iowa; Joseph Facciani (Kylee) of Greensburg, PA; Thomas Facciani (Eleri) of Pittsburgh, PA, Stephen McClelland of Windber, PA; and Angela Schaul (Tim) of Altoona, PA.  He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Levi, Soleia, Landon Hope, Ethan, Jamie, Mila, Niko and Santino, Zack and Ari; as well as many nieces and nephews.  

Leonard was a graduate of Westmont High School and continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh and Penn State University, where he earned a Master’s Degree in  Chemical Engineering.  He went on to work as a chemical engineer for the State of New York, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and he had his own Chemical Engineering practice for 40 years in Johnstown.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Leonard served his country during the Korean War.

Leonard was well known for his deep love and dedication to his family, his sharp intellect, and his enjoyment of lively debate and sports. His presence, wisdom, and humor will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends will be received at 1:30 PM on Saturday, March 28, 2026 and a memorial service celebrating Leonard’s life will be held at 2:30 PM, both at Duca Funeral Home,1622 Menoher Blvd.,Johnstown, PA 15905.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at Villa Crest: Horizons Personal Care Home and AseraCare Hospice for their compassion, prayers, and devoted care.
