Madeline A. "Sis" Figura, 87, of Johnstown, PA, died suddenly on December 27, 2024, in Maryland, while celebrating the Christmas holiday with her family.
She was born June 25, 1937, in Old Conemaugh Boro and was the daughter of Delphin Dempsey and Anna Marie (Schiffauer). She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Dempsey and husband, Donald Figura. Survived by her loving family, Brenda Burtnett (Kevin), Beth Molnar (Joe), Michele Dyer (Dan), Dawn Stephens (Chaz), and grandchildren Kyle, Alex, Luke (Erin), Jenna (Chase), Maggie (Reese), Daniel, Madison, Paige and Allyana (Dylan). Also, survived by sisters-in-law Carole Dempsey and Carol (Bert) Rebar. She will be missed by her loyal German Shepherd, Chloe. Madeline will be fondly remembered by many other family members and friends.
Madeline graduated from Johnstown Catholic High School in 1955. She retired from Johnstown Savings Bank as Operations Supervisor, after many years in the banking industry. She was an avid tennis and pickleball player and played with the Intrepids Tennis Group. Madeline loved to travel. Her favorite trips included beach vacations with her family, cross country road trips, winters in Florida, Ireland and most recently Alaska.
Her days were filled with attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and outings with friends and family.
Family and friends will be received Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown PA 15905.
She was a longtime member of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church where Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 3, 2025, at 10 a.m. by Very Rev. Mark Begly. Following the mass, Entombment will be held at Grandview Mausoleum.
