Margaret O’Malley Obituary

Margaret A. O'Malley, 64, of Westmont, passed away unexpectedly on February 20, 2025.

Margaret, affectionately known as "Peggy," was born to James and Jean (Hughes) O'Malley at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital in Johnstown on March 21, 1960. She was a beloved daughter and was deeply cherished by her parents, who were devoted to her throughout her life.

Peggy was the valedictorian of Westmont High School’s Class of 1978. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Penn State University in 1981 and went on to earn her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh in 1984. She began her law career with Yost & O'Malley in Johnstown, working alongside her father. After his passing, Peggy continued to run the practice independently. She served on the board of directors at Ameriserv Finanical, Inc. since 1997.

Like her mother, Peggy was a talented musician. She enjoyed playing the piano, organ, and guitar. She was an avid fan of the Rolling Stones and often traveled the country to see them live. Music was an important part of her life, and she attended concerts of all kinds.

Peggy also had a passion for travel. A favorite trip was to Beijing, China, and her visit to the Great Wall in the late 1980s. Throughout her life she continued an annual family tradition of a Christmas shopping trip to New York City.

In her later years, Peggy enjoyed golf and was an excellent markswoman, frequently practicing at the golf course and shooting range.

Peggy will be remembered affectionately by her uncle and many cousins.
