Marilyn A. Shorto, 76 of Westmont, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on February 13, 2022.
She was born April 2, 1945, in Johnstown, daughter of Joseph J. Sr. and Mary G. (Rosenberger) Grimm.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather Robert Hill, brother Joseph J. Grimm Jr. and brother-in-law Anthony Shorto.
Survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Joseph J. Shorto, her daughter Michelle Shorto-Dugan (Eric) and son Ryan Shorto (Stacy Krise). She was known as “Nunny” to her five grandchildren, Brooklynn Mari, Maria Lyn, Ryleigh Jo "Chi Chi", Jack Joseph, and Samuel Thomas.
Brooklynn and Maria, her twin granddaughters who also were her first grandchildren, had their middle names, “Mari” & “Lyn,” chosen so that when put together spelled out “Marilyn,” after their precious Nunny.
She is also survived by her two brothers Robert J Grimm and Larry J. Grimm, sister Eileen DiBortola, numerous nieces, and nephews. Also, sisters-in-law Anna Marie “Sis” (John) Bortoli and Rita Shorto.
Marilyn was a graduate of Bishop McCort High School and Cambria Rowe Business College. She was employed at Moxham Lumber for several years prior to having her children.
To Marilyn, there was no greater gift in life than family, especially her husband, two children and five grandchildren. Her faith played such an important part of her life, and she had a special devotion to the Blessed Mother. When she was not devoting endless hours of love to her family, she enjoyed renovating her house, painting, and making the outside of her house look as though it belonged in Better Homes and Garden magazine. She had a gift of home remodel and decor like no other!
