Mario A. "Tony" Stumpo, 88, of Oakland, died October 22, 2023 at home, ending 65 years of marriage to Antonette (Gianotti) Stumpo.
Born August 3, 1935 in Rogliano, Calabria, Italy. He was the son of the late Domenico and Giuseppina Stumpo. He was preceded in death by his son Paul Stumpo, sister Ida Buffone and brother-in-law Pietro Buffone, brother Joseph Frank Stumpo Sr. and sister-in-law Mary C. Stumpo, brother-in-law Larry Gianotti, and an infant sister. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Survived by his wife, son Mark and his wife Terri of Yorktown VA, grandchildren Anthony, Nicholas, Angela and Emily, sister-in-law Rose Poole and her husband Bob, sister-in-law Joan Gianotti, and nieces and nephews both in the United States and Italy.
After the death of his mother at the close of World War II, he traveled as a 10 year old on a troop transport to live in America with the father he had yet to meet. He was a veteran of the Korean War period. He served in the U. S Army, stationed in Korea. Tony worked for more than 40 years at United Metal Fabricators.
Family and friends are invited to his viewing 10:00 AM - 12 Noon on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Frank Duca Funeral Home Inc., EAST HILLS Chapel and Crematory, 404 Walters Avenue. A Funeral Mass will follow at 1:00 PM on Friday at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, formerly St. Anthony Church, Woodvale, Father George Gulash. Entombment, Grandview Mausoleum.
