Mary A. Sysak-Koban, 97, of Westmont, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving children on June 1, 2020.
Born February 1, 1923 in Johnstown, daughter of John and Sonya "Sadie" Wasilko.
Preceded in death by her parents, first husband Anthony F. Sysak, second husband Andrew J. Koban, infant twin sons James and John, brothers John and Michael Wasilko, and sister Katherine Smith.
Survived by her loving children Matthew Sysak (Carol); Barry Sysak; Lynn Ledford; and Terri Sysak (Gary); grandchildren Matthew Christopher Sysak (Kim) and Jessica Stein (Scott); and 7 great grandchildren. Mary was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mary was a 1941 graduate of Johnstown High School and a graduate of Cambria Rowe. She retired from Cambria County as a Respiratory Therapist.
Mary created beautiful gardens and floral arrangements, had a love for cooking, baking, and sewing. She was an excellent wife and mother. She adored animals and birds and cared for their health and wellbeing.
Mary was thoughtful and attentive to the needs of others. She loved through actions and was a good and loyal friend to many.
She was a lifetime member of St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, where she was involved in the choir and many of the church activities.
Funeral Service will be held at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1233 St. Clair Road, Johnstown PA 15905. Rev. Fr. Mark Phillips. Private Entombment will be at Grandview Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Cambria County Humane Society, 743 Galleria Drive Ext. Johnstown PA 15904 in memory of Mary.
