Mary Anne Unis Asfar, 85, of Johnstown died May 27, 2026, preceded in death by mother Frieda Farra, father Joseph D. Unis, grandson Jesse J. George, brother David J. Farra, sister Debra Fox, and lifelong friend and love Raymond Asfar.
Mary Anne is survived by daughter Christine (Steve), sons Gregory (Lisa) and Raymond (Kayla); grandchildren Leo, Shawn, Mark, and Ray Jr.; sister Sheila Murshell; sister-in-law Majda, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A 1959 graduate of Johnstown High School, Mary Anne showed musical talent from childhood. She sang on the Herb Ruth Kiddie Karnaval Show and at band shell performances, continued in high school musicals, and sang with the St. Mary Church Choir. Her soprano opera range led her to New York City where she performed with the Bay Ridge Chorale and an off broadway performance.
Mary Anne graduated from Cambria Rowe Business School and Marinello Beauty School in Brooklyn, New York.
She was proud of her Lebanese heritage and was devoted to her church, St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Church, where she held a strong faith. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Friends received from 11 am-1 pm on Monday June 1, 2026 at St. Mary Antiochian Church. Trisagion prayers of mercy will begin at 1 pm Monday, Rev. Fr. Donald Shadid. Interment to follow at Benshoff Hill Cemetery. Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, is entrusted with her funeral arrangements.
