Mary Lou Johnston, 73, formerly of Johnstown, died on November 4, 2022 at the Sheridan at Bethel Park. She was born on July 12, 1949 in Johnstown, daughter of Philip and Lucy (Angelo) Lopresti. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Philip Lopresti.
She is survived by her sons Andrew Langstaff Johnston, of Washington DC and Cody Lopresti, of Atlanta, Georgia; her sister, Joanne Litzinger of Johnstown; sister-in-law Pat Lopresti of New Jersey; brothers John Lopresti (Dolly) of Johnstown and Jim Lopresti (Andy) of Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a graduate of Bishop McCort High School and the University of Pittsburgh, and had a long and successful career as a Certified Public Accountant. Her greatest joy in life was her children, and she could tell stories about their childhood antics forty years after the fact. Her friends and family will miss her terribly even though she could beat all of us at Scrabble. She loved science fiction, a wide variety of music, games and puzzles, Notre Dame sports, and family gatherings with good food.
Friends and family will be received from 4-7 PM on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 10:30 AM at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer’s Disease Research Center at the following address: Leslie Dunn, MPH, ADRC Administrator, University of Pittsburgh, UPMC Montefiore, Four West, 200 Lothrop Street, Pittsburgh, PA, 15213 in memory of Mary Lou.
