Matthew Michael Gnagey, 43, of Upper Yoder, passed away at home on Saturday, May 28, 2022, after a brief illness. Born November 29, 1978, in Johnstown, son of Michael Gnagey (Wendy) and Joan Ailes (Michael).
Preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Donald and Betty Gnagey, and maternal grandfather Evan Hartland.
Survived by his loving wife Cara (Greco) Gnagey, who was with him at the time of death and leaves behind his young son Wyatt Gnagey. He is survived by his maternal grandmother, Lois Hartland and three siblings, Michael, Jill and Christopher Gnagey, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Jim (Denise) Greco, sister-in-law, Bettina (Justin) Fochler, and their three children who loved him dearly. He will be sadly missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Matt was employed by Lichtenfels Nursery. He was a graduate of Conemaugh Township High School class of 1997. Matt also earned a certificate in Electrical Technology from Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed taking Wyatt with him deer hunting.
At the request of the family, there will not be a public viewing. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Church of the Brethren, 2301 Sunshine Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15905 with Pastor Gary L. Tustin, officiating. Private entombment Grandview Cemetery. Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Johnstown, PA, 15905, has been entrusted to serve the family.
