Cort- Nevin Augustine Cort III, 80, of Johnstown passed away peacefully at his home August 02, 2023. He was born in Mt. Pleasant on August 07, 1942, son of Nevin A. Jr. and Emily (Laird) Cort
Preceded in death by his parents and parent-in-laws, Charles and Nancy Palmer.
Survived by his wife of 47 years, Cindi Cort and their daughter, Ariana Cort and her significant other, Bryan Heller; his sister, Susan Din (Aage); his sisters-in-law, Debra Rogosky (Ed), Colette Shupe (George), Vicki Bauroth (Charlie), Tracy Palmer, Connie Palmer, and Bonnie Hriczik (Steve); his brother-in-law, Chuck Palmer; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Nevin retired as a vocational rehabilitation counselor, specializing in deaf and hearing impaired and the blind, from Hiram G. Andrews Center, after 37 years. Proud graduate of PSU where he earned Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Rehabilitation Education. An avid Penn State athletic supporter, attending games of almost every sport. Lovingly supported Ariana and her gymnastics and track teammates. Lover of all animals. Enjoyed farmers markets and art festivals, gardening and manicuring his lawn, and most of all, enjoying ice cream with those that he loved.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial service to celebrate Nevin's life 3:00 PM Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Westmont Presbyterian Church, 601 Luzerne Street, Rev. Bernard Nti officiating.
