Philomena “Phyl” J. DelSignore, 95, died October 7, 2022 at home. Born November 10, 1926, in Johnstown, PA. She was the daughter of Joseph E. and Marian A. (Santarcangelo) Weat.
Preceded in death by her parents, sister Mary R. Weat, beloved cousin Phyllis Pecora Virostek, and loving and devoted husband of 62 years Richard L. DelSignore.
Survived by her children Joseph R. (Nancy) DelSignore, Richard M. (Michele) DelSignore, and Lisa M. (Robert) Hoegg; grandchildren Christopher L. (Jennifer) DelSignore, Matthew J. DelSignore, Jodi L. (Ray) Forgas, Jill A. DelSignore (fiancé Craig Harris), Richard S. (Sara) DelSignore, Daniel J. (Erica) DelSignore, Victoria M. (Paul) Reilly, and Bryan R. (Selina) Hoegg; great-grandchildren Anthony, Dominic, Van, Kobe, Josephine, Thea, Peyton, Kate, Ben, Ava, Olivia, Iliana, Bruin, and Giovanni.
Phyl graduated from Johnstown High School in 1944 and attended Cambria Rowe Business College after graduation. She began her career in the office at Glosser Brothers Department Store. She then became office supervisor at John Hancock Life Insurance. In 1968, Phyl was named 1st Deputy in the Register of Wills Office at the Cambria County Courthouse. She finished her career by working alongside her husband for over 50 years in Ricardo Packing and Richard DelSignore Claims Investigation & Adjustments.
Phyl was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister. She was a devout Catholic who attended mass weekly and prayed the rosary daily. Phyl was proud of her Italian heritage, and she carried on a family tradition of weekly Sunday Dinners of homemade Italian cuisine. “Nunnie” enjoyed baking Italian cookies, watching baseball, and crafting.
The family is especially grateful to Misty, Bobbie Jo, Brenda, Sherry, Amy, Father Scott, and the team at Conemaugh Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
Friends received from 3-7 PM Monday, October 10, at the Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont Chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM Tuesday, October 11, at St. Therese Catholic Church, 536 Decker Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15906 by Rev. Bernard Karmanocky, OFM. Entombment at Grandview Cemetery to follow.
