Phyllis J. (DeMauro) McDonald, 82, of Glendale, Arizona, passed away October 17, 2024. She was born September 10, 1942 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, daughter of Charles and Phyllis A. (Galiote) DeMauro.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim (2015); her uncles, Angelo (1991), and Nick (1992); her aunts, Agnes (1995), and Margaret (2011), and her daughter-in-law, Christina (2023).
Survived by her son, Anthony and his children: Francesca, Antonia, Angelo, Christiana, Anthony, and James; her son, Joseph married to Tonya and their children, Marissa and Makayla; her aunt and uncle, Josephina, and Gene Spangler; her cousins: Joe and Marie Lachimi, Nick and Mary Wuckovich, Fred and Stephanie Galiote, John and Mary Galiote, Barry and Lynn Galiote, and their families.
Phyllis graduated from Greater Johnstown High School and went on to Phoenix Community College, where she earned an Associate Degree in X-Ray Technology. She worked at Maricopa County Hospital for 33 years. Phyllis was a devoted Catholic. In Johnstown, she was a member of St. Patrick Parish and married James there. In Glendale, she was a longtime member of St. Helen Roman Catholic Parish. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother who always put the needs of others before her own. She was a woman of unwavering faith in God and was known for her loving, caring, and forgiving nature. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She loved spending time with her family and her lifelong dear friends Mary Naugle and Jim Blair. She also enjoyed cooking, knitting, and solving cross word puzzles.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, November 09, 2024 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Very Rev. Matthew Baum and Rev. Simon Savarimuthu, HGN, 609 Park Avenue, Johnstown, Pennsylvania 15902.
Interment at St. Anthony Cemetery, Johnstown, 15904.
