Raymond Robert “Bob” McDonald, 89, of Johnstown, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023. The son of Oliver McDonald and Elnora (Trexel) McDonald, he was born on May 13, 1934.
Bob is survived by his wife, Theresa Annette (McKillip) McDonald; brother, Patrick McDonald; children Patricia Moehler (Joe), Timothy (Cathy), Deborah Ribblett (Roy), stepchildren; Theresa Sanjurjo (Hector) with whom he resided in Reading, PA at the time of his passing, Richard Beam (Barbara); grandchildren Sam Moehler (Meagan), Megan Bayush (Johnny), Tracy Collins (Chris), Katie Bedrin (Mark), Riley Davis (Justin), Kelsey Borusiewicz (Nicholas), Ross Ribblett; step-grandchildren Joseph Hoover, Christopher Hoover (Liz), Sean Beam, Shaelyn Farmer (Dillon), Tyler Bafia (Courtney), Blaine (Siyu) Steigerwalt ; brother-in-law Ronald McKillip (Cathy), 19 great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his sisters Audrey McDonald and Ruth Hetzlein; brothers James and Albert; infant grandson Tyler Moehler; and sister-in-law Audrey Shank.
Bob was an Army Veteran of 6 years and served in Berlin, Germany where he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal. He was employed for 36 years by Bethlehem Steel where he worked as a shipping clerk and a customer service representative. He was a member of the Johnstown Fraternal Order of the Elks, the American Legion, and the Ferndale Volunteer Fire Company which led to him calling bingo at the jubilee for many years. Bob enjoyed camping and his yearly visits to Florida where he established many close friendships. He was proud of his Irish heritage and especially liked the music of the Irish Rovers. Over the years he enjoyed the company of many faithful dogs and found joy in their loyalty and companionship. Above all, Bob valued time with family and friends especially if it was shared over his favorite snack, coffee and cookies.
Friends received from 9:00 AM until time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at St. John Gualbert Cathderal, 117 Clinton Street. Fr. Matthew Baum.
