Richard E. Berkebile

Berkebile - Richard "Dick" E., 94, of Johnstown, died on July 4, 2024 at Laurelview Village. 

Born on August 22, 1929, in Adams Township, son of Jesse and Lizzie (Miller) Berkebile. 

Preceded in death by his parents, wife Esther, and brothers and sisters Clyde (Dorothy Hoffman), Sara (Todd Hewitt), Margaret (Kermit Wingard), Jay (Mildred Weaver), John (Ora Jean Hoffman), Frank (Sarah Johnson), and Glenn (Beverly Coulter). 

Survived by children Glenda (Greg Powell), of Hollsopple, Jeff Berkebile (Janet Malec), and Terry Berkebile (Barbara Dill), both of Johnstown; grandchildren Tracey (Jason Lichon), Matt Berkebile (Amanda), Tessa (Brian Schmitt), Nicole Berkebile (fiance Blake Eckenrod); great grandchildren Shannon Renee Lichon, Valen Marie Berkebile, Ella Jane Berkebile, Hudson Schmitt, Landon Schmitt, also many nieces and nephews. 

Dick was a member of Moxham Church of the Brethren since 1951, and a member of Hilltop Area Senior Citizens, and their chorus for a number of years. 

He was a retired employee from US Steel Corporation, and also a retiree from the 485th Chemical Battalion of the US Army Reserve, having served 22 1/2 years. 

At request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or service.
